Bill Bryson
Any Book...

Bill Bryson's travel books are number one when it comes to observational comedy, fact-filled tales and providing new additions on your "must see" lists.  I read his fantastic "Down Under" book before heading to Oz for a year and subsequently found myself in a variety of spots I wouldn't have visited otherwise.  His Euro adventures in "Neither Here Nor There" are also a little bit responsible for my move to Italy as I slowly edge my way towards Capri...
